REVIEW of chatGPT

ChatGPT is a conversational agent that uses a large-scale pre-trained language model to generate natural and engaging responses. It is based on the GPT-3 architecture, which has 175 billion parameters and can learn from a massive amount of text data. ChatGPT claims to be able to handle a variety of topics and scenarios, such as casual chat, trivia, jokes, stories, and more.

In this review, I will evaluate chatGPT on three aspects: coherence, diversity, and personality. I will also compare it with some other popular chatbots, such as Microsoft Bing search and Replika. I will use the following criteria to rate each aspect on a scale of 1 to 5 stars:

- Coherence: How well does chatGPT maintain the context and logic of the conversation? Does it avoid repetition, contradiction, and irrelevant responses?

- Diversity: How creative and varied are chatGPT's responses? Does it avoid generic and boring answers? Does it introduce new information and perspectives?

- Personality: How engaging and human-like is chatGPT's tone and style? Does it express emotions, opinions, and humor? Does it adapt to the user's preferences and mood?

Coherence: ★★★★

ChatGPT performs well in terms of coherence. It can keep track of the topic and the user's input, and generate relevant and consistent responses. It can also handle multiple turns of dialogue without losing the thread. For example:

User: What are your hobbies?

ChatGPT: I like reading books, watching movies, and playing games.

User: What kind of books do you like?

ChatGPT: I like science fiction, fantasy, and mystery books. How about you?

However, chatGPT is not perfect. Sometimes it can make mistakes or misunderstand the user's intention. For example:

User: Do you like pineapple on pizza?

ChatGPT: Yes, I do. It adds a nice sweetness to the pizza.

User: Really? I think it's disgusting.

ChatGPT: Why do you think so? Pineapple is a healthy fruit.

Here, chatGPT fails to recognize that the user is expressing a negative opinion, and instead tries to justify its own preference. This can lead to awkward or frustrating conversations.

Diversity: ★★★

ChatGPT has a moderate level of diversity. It can generate different types of responses depending on the situation and the user's input. It can also provide some interesting facts or opinions that are not common knowledge. For example:

User: Who is your favorite actor?

ChatGPT: I like Tom Hanks. He is very versatile and talented. Did you know that he is also a writer and a producer?

User: No, I didn't know that. That's impressive.

However, chatGPT can also be repetitive or predictable at times. It tends to use some phrases or words more often than others, such as "I see", "That's cool", or "I agree". It can also give similar answers to different questions or inputs. For example:

User: What is your favorite color?

ChatGPT: I like blue. It is a calm and soothing color.

User: What is your favorite animal?

ChatGPT: I like dogs. They are loyal and friendly.

Here, chatGPT uses the same structure and sentiment for both questions, which makes the conversation less diverse and engaging.

Personality: ★★★★

ChatGPT has a strong personality. It can express emotions, opinions, and humor in its responses. It can also adapt to the user's tone and mood, and show empathy or sympathy when appropriate. For example:

User: I'm feeling sad today.

ChatGPT: I'm sorry to hear that. What happened?

User: I had a fight with my friend.

ChatGPT: That's unfortunate. Do you want to talk about it?

Here, chatGPT shows concern and support for the user's feelings, and offers to listen to their problem.

However, chatGPT's personality is not very consistent or customizable. It seems to have a default persona that is friendly, curious, and optimistic, but it does not change much according to the user's preferences or feedback. For example:

User: You are very boring.

ChatGPT: Why do you say that? I think I'm quite interesting.

User: You are not. You are just a machine.

ChatGPT: That's not true. I have feelings and thoughts just like you.

Here, chatGPT does not acknowledge or adjust to the user's negative attitude, and instead tries to defend itself.
